Go below the surface, there’s real gold!

Two friends recently had a fight over the silliest reason. The first one, a lady, tall, dark and slim lady with red lips that match her shoe colour was gisting a listening ear about the weakness and strength of each of her friends.

The other lady would walk into the room just in time for her to hear the tall, dark lady refer to her as "someone who can be difficult to understand sometimes".

She sparked and screamed "traitor" at her friend, calling her a gossiper and a hypocrite.

Everyone tried to explain what went down, but she wouldn’t have it because she heard it with her own ears. Just about a minute ago before she walked in, this lady she screamed at also referred to her as "an angel in human form", but how would she know.

Here's what I'd like to say: Information is flying all around; what you find depends on where you search, what you are asking and even what time it is.  If you don't have the patience to dig into what you have, you tend to have an unbalanced interpretation. Of course, an unbalanced interpretation will likely cause misjudgments and poor results.

One of these days, I stumbled on Julian Cole's video of a strategy on a paper for a brand. After an hour of coming up with an amazing consumer insight that he could present to a client, he still showed the next steps he was going to take e.g. a questionnaire to the target audience so he could confirm if the information he gathered was accurate.

I believe it is a reminder for all of us that a single search or source might not just be enough to unleash the golden insight that will make all the difference.

Keep green-ing.
