Get Involved, Get Involved, O Ye Marketers!




Those vanity metrics will take the business nowhere. 

Whether you grew your follower count organically or by paid means won't matter to the CEO. The same goes for reach, share, views -- metrics like that. 

Of course, they are evidence of some of your hard work. So, it makes sense that you received the initial clap, the praise and the pay raise. 

But don't leave a fire burning on your roof while you take a nap. One of these days, the CEO will see the declining arrows of the financial report, and to them, at that point, all of your efforts will no longer hold water.

We as marketers must realise how important our roles are for business survival. It's beyond a day of talking about our brand and how cool we are. We must become involved in details of customer satisfaction and most importantly, PROFIT. 

That is what pays the bill.
