The New Year Begins. What Else is New?

I will keep it short. I know you would like that.

Unlike my Christmas Eve reflection, there was not so much leading to how I have arrived at what I will be sharing. It just happened, and I made sure to note it down so I will not forget it.

People use different platforms to blog, but since August 2015 I have been sticking with Google's Blogger platform for so many reasons.

Roll back a bit, did I just say August 2015? Oh my God, eight years and another four good months. It did not take many bloggers that long to create a celebrated name for themselves. At least, I know quite a few good examples.

I have earned money managing other people's blogs, but I have made no more than an accounted four dollars from managing my own blog in eight years and four months.

Eight years sounds like a long time, so you would have thought of several reasons why I could be earning that low on my behalf. Take a break from overthinking it, and hear my story in a few words.

Out of those eight years, maybe I had only two or three months of dedicated time to actually grow the blog. Most of the time, I just wanted to share something until many months later.

What I realised in that instance is that growth is not about the number of years you keep doing something, it is rather from the amount of time you have deliberately dedicated to better at it.

So let me put it straight: That thing you are doing now. Your job, your course, name it. You will be better at it, not by counting the number of days you have been doing it, but by dedicating enough time and effort to be better. Your 20 years of experience does not translate to 20 years of growth and proficiency, as a matter of fact only a few days or months of deliberate effort to grow might be the reason you achieved quite a bunch over the years — just like I grew this blog (which is my second attempt) to over 10,000 all-time views.

One year is long enough to make a difference. You and I. Happy New Year.
